Save the Date for Safeguarding training

If you are a Minister, a Local Preacher, a Worship Leader or the paid or voluntary leader of any group involving children, young people or adults (eg. Sunday School, Youth Club, Toddler Group etc..) you should be planning to attend the Advanced Module safeguarding training event at Marton in January 2019?

If the answer is YES, I need to know to plan for numbers but also to be able to send out pre-course training materials. By way of reminder, the session is scheduled to run between 9.00am and 1.00pm on Saturday 19th January at Marton Methodist Church. This is important required training for those in leadership positions in the church so if you are planning to be there could you contact Mark Braithwaite (circuit safeguarding adviser) to confirm your attendance on 01642-320627 or email

3. Candle of Joy Reading: Zephaniah 3:14-20

Sing aloud, O daughter Zion; shout, O Israel!

Rejoice and exult with all your heart,  O daughter Jerusalem!

The Lord has taken away the judgements against you,

  he has turned away your enemies.

The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;  you shall fear disaster no more.

On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Do not fear, O Zion;

  do not let your hands grow weak. The Lord, your God, is in your midst,  a warrior who gives victory;

he will rejoice over you with gladness,  he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing  as on a day of festival.

I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not bear reproach for it. I will deal with all your oppressors  at that time. And I will save the lame  and gather the outcast,

and I will change their shame into praise   and renown in all the earth.

At that time I will bring you home,  at the time when I gather you;for I will make you renowned and praised  among all the peoples of the earth,when I restore your fortunes  before your eyes, says the Lord.

We light this candle to symbolise joy, knowing that fullness of joy comes from God alone.

God of the oppressed; may your freedom be known by all.

God of the outcast; draw everyone near to you with your love.

God of the sick; stretch out your healing hand to our world.

Come Lord. Release, bless and heal your nations.

In you, Lord, our joy is aflame and eternal. Amen.

A thought for every day:

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you ….then everyone will know that you are my disciples. John 13:34-35

Any items to be included on the notice sheet need to be with Celia Shires by Wednesday evening
